Vanessa's son David was born with birth defects: developmentally delayed, legally blind, and near deaf. Although she had healh insurance, Vanessa was notified shortly after David's birth that he had reached his lifetime limit and would no longer be eligible for coverage. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, insurance companies can no longer put families through the same turmoil as Vanessa and her family endured.
